On the morning of December 3rd, Yangzhou Municipal Party Secretary Wang Jinjian conducted an inspection of scientific and technological innovation and led a delegation to Yangzhou Qunfa Optical Chip Technology Co., Ltd. to learn about the progress of the OPA silicon photonic chip project. Zhuang Shaolou, Chairman of Qunfa Optical Chip, briefed on the overall progress of the project. Heads of various company departments provided detailed reports on the features of the silicon photonics pilot line, equipment procurement and construction progress, core technology research, and market applications in the optical communications field.

Secretary Wang stated that the municipal party committee and government are determined to cultivate and develop silicon photonics technology, a new type of productivity that represents a future trend. Investment in silicon photonics projects comes at a significant cost, and thorough preparations must be made in various areas, including policies, funding, and operational management. Government funding doesn't mean the end of the project. Project development must be monitored promptly, and the government must learn from other market-based commissioned operations. Furthermore, incentives must be designed for operational projects. Secretary Wang emphasized the importance of thoroughly researching the development of silicon photonics technology and keeping abreast of current market size, major application areas, and other information. The district committee and government should actively engage in attracting investment from upstream and downstream industries supporting silicon photonics. Scientific and technological innovation teams or companies with foundry needs can be fully referred to the silicon photonics pilot line. The park should also conduct thorough research in this regard. Secretary Wang outlined the next phase of work for Qunfa Optical Chip, emphasizing ensuring that equipment is delivered and commissioned as planned, and that production capacity is established and fully operational as soon as possible. The company also emphasized fully tapping the silicon photonics chip market to attract large-scale investment, creating a virtuous cycle and ultimately leading to a public offering.

Municipal Organization Department Minister Jiao Qingbiao, Deputy Mayor Luo Xueming, Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau Director Qian Feng, Municipal Science and Technology Bureau Director Chen Jiangwei, District Party Secretary Zhang Xingang, High-tech Zone Party Working Committee Secretary Yan Wei, and other leaders attended the event.
